Choquequirao Trek 5 Days
The “Full Day” Expedition to the Sister City of Machu Picchu.

Choquequirao Trek 5 Days: The Most Complete Way to Explore the Lost City
The Choquequirao Trek 5 Days is the most complete and immersive way to explore the “Lost City” of Choquequirao. Designed for travelers who want deeper archaeological exploration and a better daily pacing, this itinerary includes a full day dedicated entirely to discovering the vast Inca complex.
Rather than rushing through the ruins, you descend into the Apurímac Canyon at a steady rhythm, climb to Marampata, and dedicate an entire day to exploring the Main Plaza, ceremonial platforms, residential sectors, Ritual Baths, and the famous Llama Terraces (Sector VIII). This additional day allows you to experience up to 80% of the archaeological complex without the pressure of an immediate return descent.
By spreading the trek over five days, the physical effort is distributed more evenly. The daily hiking distances feel more balanced, allowing for greater appreciation of the canyon landscapes and the architectural significance of Choquequirao.
This 5-day Choquequirao Trek is ideal for:
Hikers who want maximum exploration time
Travelers interested in Inca archaeology
Those seeking a less rushed canyon experience
Photographers and cultural explorers
If you want the most complete Choquequirao expedition with deeper immersion and better pacing, the 5-day itinerary offers the definitive experience.

Kusa Difference
The “Full Day” Advantage
Most trekkers only see a portion of Choquequirao. On this 5-day expedition, you dedicate an entire day (Day 3) to exploring the archaeological complex. This allows you to visit the Main Plaza, upper temples, Ritual Baths, and descend to the famous Llama Terraces (Sector VIII) without rushing back down the canyon.
Camp Closer to the Ruins
On Night 3, we aim to camp at the Choquequirao campsite (subject to seasonal water availability) or Marampata. Being this close allows you to experience sunrise over the ruins before beginning the return trek.
Better Pace, Less Daily Strain
By spreading the route over five days, the physical effort is distributed more evenly. This reduces daily fatigue and enhances the overall archaeological and scenic experience.
