This smart two-day itinerary allows you to explore the most important archaeological sites of the Sacred Valley of the Incas before continuing by train to Aguas Calientes, the town located at the base of Machu Picchu.
On Day 1, you visit the impressive Pisac ruins, explore colorful artisan markets, enjoy a buffet lunch in Urubamba, and climb the magnificent fortress of Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved Inca towns in Peru.
Instead of returning to Cusco, you board the scenic train that follows the Urubamba River through lush Andean landscapes to Aguas Calientes, where you spend the night.
On Day 2, you take one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu for a guided sunrise visit before the large crowds arrive. It is the most efficient and relaxing way to experience the Lost City of the Incas.
